Overview:
Ledgent is partnering with a community-focused nonprofit organization in Midtown Sacramento to identify a reliable and detail-oriented Temporary Staff Accountant. This role supports the day-to-day financial operations of the organization and is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in general accounting who enjoys working in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries for routine financial transactions, including accruals, reclassifications, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, and liabilities, on a regular basis.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accurate coding.
  • Support monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain and update financial records in accordance with internal policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist with payroll journal entries and reconciliation of payroll-related accounts.
  • Monitor and record bank transactions; perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting discrepancies and provide financial support.
  • Help prepare financial statements and internal reports for leadership review.
  • Participate in audit preparation by gathering documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the accounting function.
  • Perform other accounting-related duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting, preferably within a nonprofit or service-oriented organization.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software.
